Bill Hufnagel, a former Trust Officer at Bank of Maine, NA in Augusta, opened this office in Winthrop in 1977. Howard Lake joined him in 1978. Together, they practiced on Main Street for 20 years until Bill’s sudden death in 1998. Howard Lake and Margaret Kenney have continued the practice focusing on real estate, elder law, estate planning and administration, and business law. Hufnagel and Lake serves clients statewide.

Joined William F. Hufnagel in 1978 and has practiced in Winthrop since then.

Howard is a founder, past president and current director of the Kennebec Land Trust. He is currently on the Boards of the Winthrop Area Chamber of Commerce and Friends of Baxter State Park.

Joined Hufnagel & Lake as an Associate Attorney in 1988 following a one-year clerkship with the Maine Supreme Judicial Court; returned to the Maine Supreme Judicial Court as Administrative Law Clerk to Chief Justice Daniel E. Wathen from 1997-2001; rejoined Hufnagel & Lake in 2002 as an Associate Attorney.

Margaret is currently on the board of Trustees of the Charles M. Bailey Public Library.
